Collete Davis snuck past the field in the first Heat race of the Redbull Global Rallycross season, taking the Kobalt Tools Joker Lap to lead the first race laps of the year. Davis, making her Lites debut for River Racing, became the first woman in Red Bull GRC history to lead a lap in any race session.
“That was the strategy from the beginning, to take the joker,” Davis said, “especially when we found out that we were lined up on the inside anyway. We just stuck to that plan and it worked out to our advantage. It was my first ever lap in GRC Lites, and we led it, so that’s pretty awesome!”
